We, Treeby Community Association, are always looking for passionate members to join our team. Currently, we have 2 positions that are vacant and would love to have someone in the community to fill them.

First one is our Grants Officer. The grants officer's role is to seek out potential grants that we can apply and working with TCA team to make it happen. We have had grants from the City of Cockburn, local businesses, donations and much more. They all contributed to many of our fun programs such as monthly BBQs, Treeby Olympics, Halloween competitions, etc. The Grants Officer is important for the growth and the potential of TCA. With additional grants, we can run more community programs, improve amenities, support the members and better competition prizes.

The second one is our Neighbourhood Watch Officer. As a Treeby Neighbourhood Watch rep, you will be attending a monthly meeting at the City of Cockburn town hall to provide and receive updates on the crime reports and community awareness campaigns. This is the place to network with other communities representatives, WA Police, Crime Stoppers, and as well as learning many ways to keep you and your family safe. The role will involve attending the monthly meetings, occasionally provide Treeby community's concerns and reporting back any upcoming programs and initiatives by the Neighbourhood Watch Board. This role is important as it is our gateway to learn more about what is happening around us.

If any of these two position resonant with your desire to volunteer, please don't hesitate to contact us. Of course, all the TCA exec team are here to help so you don't need prior experience. Just your passion and your desire to build a strong community!

Want to learn more about the role? Please contact us via info@treebyca.com.au or Facebook messenger. Thank you for reading~

Just a friendly reminder that Solomon Road will be temporarily closed from late November 2019 to March 2020. The section of the Solomon Road stretches from Jandakot Road and Peppworth Place. Diversions and signage will be in place during the closure.

The upgrade project is to transform 800m of Solomon Road into a safer 70kph zone with street lighting and a central median, replacing the rural-standard two-lane section between Dollier and Jandakot Roads.

As for Calleyans, we will be able to access to the Jandakot Road via the new construction at the new Clementine Boulevard and Jandakot Road intersection. This access point will be completed before the closure on Solomon Road.

To get to Kwinana Freeway, we can use Cutler Road and Prinsep Road or the good ol' Armadale Road entry.

For more information, please visit City of Cockburn website on Solomon Rd Upgrade Page.

A fun day for families~

A huge thank you to all of you for your support and assistance on Treeby Community Olympic day. It was a fantastic turnout and we couldn't have asked for better weather!

All the participants showed fantastic sportsmanship and we are happy that everyone had fun!

TCA would like to thank Kathy Pritchard, who is a teacher and a running candidate for East Ward Cockburn, for organising this fun event promoting healthy and family fun. She managed to secure a grant for all the games, equipment, and prizes. After the event, we were happy to hear that there are more events to come for our fellow Treebians!

Also a huge thanks to Lee-Anne Smith for taking time out to make some recycled ribbons for the participants! We are truly grateful for the support!

Lee-Anne, Kathy, and some of the TCA gang.

Of course, we would like to thank all the volunteers for taking their precious time to help set up the games, teach & supervise at each station and clean up after the event. We couldn't have done it without you! Looking at all the smiling faces and laughter mean that this event was well organised and was a success.

Lastly, to those who came and join the fun. We do wish that you and your family had a blast. Please share the word around and watch out for our next event! We would love to see more Treebians come together in these community events. Please feel free to give us any feedback to help us improve for our next events.

Below are some pictures from Sunday for you all to enjoy! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you everyone who came by our Bunning's snag-tent yesterday to grab a bite! The event was a delicious success.

The event fundraised around $1,200 from the sausage sizzle and our sponsors. We hit the $700 target for our community garden defibrillator plus more! The additional funds will be directed towards future events and assisting TCA to serve our community better.

Lani taking dibs on the first snag with Mike at the barbie and Tynille handling the buns, drinks and sauces.

A huge thanks to our TCA president Lani and secretary Helen for organising this event. Many love to our volunteers, Kathy, Mike, Tynille, Natalie, Daran, Wagish, Kevin, Chris, Marie, Mai, Ivana, Amy, and Louise, for taking out their time to help in this event. We also have a special visit from Deputy Mayor Lee-Anne Smith who has always been a strong supporter of TCA. Lee-Anne surprised us with her hand-made TCA aprons! We were proud to wear them.

Last but not least, we would like to thank all the patrons for taking your time out on Sunday to support our initiative. It was heartwarming to see many fellow residents (Calleyans), bringing their families along for a quick bite.

We, here at TCA, are grateful at the amount of encouragement and support from within the estate and from the surrounding suburbs. Thank you again. We could not have done it without you!

P.S. We have our Calleya Family Olympics next Sunday 6th October @ 10 am. See you there!

What is the best thing to do on a beautiful Sunday morning?

That is, of course, bring your family down to our new-ish Treeby Community Oval on Clementine Blvd and join the Treeby Family Olympics. Organised by the TCA and sponsored by City of Cockburn.

The event is open to all residents of Treeby and to all ages. Just bring your hat, water bottle, slap on some sun-screen, and put on your game face.

Treeby Family Olympic is on Sunday, 6th October 2019. Starting at 10am and finish at 1pm. There will be many fun activities and prizes to be won! We've got sack racing, giant tic-tac-toe, soccer, totem tennis, and much much more.

Save the date!

6th October 2019 @ 10am on our oval

See you there~

You may have noticed that construction for the long-awaited community garden has commenced. It was once a barren sandpit, but now there are structures and planter boxes spotted throughout.

A huge thanks to the team at Stockland Calleya, our supportive Deputy Mayor and East Ward Councillors, and our Treeby Community Association (TCA) executive team for making this happen.

A community garden is a place where people come together to grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. TCA believes that urban agriculture can be beneficial to the environment, and the health and wellbeing of community members. The introduction of community garden provides opportunities for both recreational gardening and growing food for consumption. Gardens also contribute to the biodiversity of species and help to support populations of pollinators. Finally, a community garden brings people together by engaging residents in a positive initiative.

The garden is still at the primal stage with a target completion date of early-November. There will be a 'planting day' event to officiate the opening of the community garden, but that will be advised when we receive the confirmation.

Joining a community garden does not just provide fresh food and a great social network, but it also encourages us to eat more veggies and improves our neighbourhood environment. In a time where less and less children know where food comes from, becoming a part of a community garden will also help kids learn and connect with the food they eat.

If you are interested in getting your hands dirty at our Calleya Community Garden, please don't hesitate and send us an email to info@treebyca.com.au or message us at our TCA Facebook page.

Get your gloves on and see you in the garden!

It's R U OK?Day, our national day of action and a reminder to Trust the Signs, Trust your Gut & Ask R U OK? any day it's needed.

Today we're calling on Australia to learn when and how to start a conversation that could change a life.

It's time to ask R U OK? if you notice a change, no matter how small, in your friends, family and peers. Look for clues in:

โœ”๏ธWhat they're saying
โœ”๏ธWhat they're doing
โœ”๏ธWhat's going on in their life

By acting as โ€˜eyes and earsโ€™ and reaching out to anyone who's going through a tough time we can show them theyโ€™re supported and encourage them to access help sooner.
