The City has been working with a Community Reference Group and Architect to complete a draft design for a new Community and Sports Centre in Treeby. The purpose of this facility is to serve the local community and sporting groups, given their growing numbers and needs.
The draft design for this new Community and Sports Centre was developed based on community feedback from early 2019, when we asked our residents what kind of spaces and activities were most important to them. With a construction budget of approximately $5.5 million, the draft design includes elements such as an activity room, "wet" arts and crafts space, a function room, external play area and more.

Thank you to all for adhering to the social distancing practices in the last few weeks. A huge thanks to members in our community that are in the front line protecting us all 👏. Also, a big thanks to our residents who offered up their time to help those in need. We had witnessed many positive interactions on our Facebook and WhatsApp group. It really shows that we are stronger together as a community 💪.
It is a time for strength, humanity and kindness. 💕🤝
We are still FAR from over, despite today's news of easing coronavirus restrictions in WA from our Premier Mark McGowan. McGowan has announced a "cautious relaxation" of some COVID restrictions in WA, including allowing indoor and outdoor non-work gatherings of up to 10 people. However, please keep continuing to follow the advice from the Australia Department of Health and WA Department of Health. Take care and reach out if you need help!
Have you seen Carl?
This week, our Treeby Gardening Committee had been working on a fun secret project. We would like to introduce Carl, our Community Garden Scarecrow, he will be a permanent resident there while guarding ours produces. 😊
Feel free to drop by and say hi to Carl! 👋
A while back we introduced Nextdoor in our TCA Facebook group. The member has been slowly increasing over the past 6 months. Just today we hit 237 members in 189 households. That is 15% of Calleya!! That is amazing.
I know this may be just 'another social platform' for some, but the great thing about Nextdoor is that anything shared in this neighbourhood will only be read by the residents in Treeby. Unlike Facebook groups where it is hard to control who joins the group.
